As a new employee, you'll begin with new employee orientation and basic training - two comprehensive training programs designed to make you feel completely comfortable in your new role. Many tentured CCA wardens and excutive level employees began their succesful career in these very training sessions.
New Employee Orientation
CCA offers a 40-hour orientation program for all new, full-time employees, which includes:

Corporate history, philosophy, goals and objectives

Facility policy and procedures

Job responsibilities and personnel policies

Employee standards of conduct

Institutional safety

Special management offenders

Use of force and

Emergency procedures among others.
Employees also receive additional training specific to their job assignments.
Correctional Officer Basic Training
In addition to 40 hours of pre-service orientation, all new full-time security personnel receive a minimum of 120 hours of training during their first year of employment. These training programs follow ACA standards. A few courses typically contained in the basic curriculum include:

On-the-Job Training
New employees receive a minimum 40-hours of on-the-job training (OJT), which consists of structured activity and provides cognitive and skill-based training.
In-Service Training
All correctional/direct supervision, support staff, professional specialist, administrative and managerial staff receive 40 hours of in-service training each year in accordance with ACA standards, designed around a "common core" concept. Annual, routine and ad hoc training help provide new and current employees with new information.
